Team Biographies




Jonathan Harris
Partner, President and CEO

Jon is the Chairman of the firm’s Investment Committee and AIM’s Board of Managers. Jon leads the firm’s investment management activities and the overall strategic direction of the firm.  Prior to joining the firm, Jon managed private investments for J.I. Harris & Associates. Previously, he worked for Goldman Sachs in the firm’s Investment Management Services Group and spent time in its Investment Banking Division in London.  Earlier in his financial services career, Jon served as a principal investment analyst for Madison Dearborn Partners, the private equity firm based in Chicago.  Jon also served as Deputy to the Vice Presidential Campaign Manager for the Dole-Kemp Presidential Campaign in 1996. Prior to that role, he was responsible for the majority party’s issues on the International Finance Subcommittee of the U.S. Senate’s Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs.  Jon’s involvement with the UJA Federation of New York has included roles as Co-Chair of the Annual Campaign, member of the Board, member of the Strategic Council of the Wall Street Division, and Co-Chair of the Investment Management Division.  Jon has also served on the board for the Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut, as a trustee of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, and on the Leadership Council for the Robin Hood Foundation.  Jon is a member of the New York Economic Club and the Chicago Economic Club.  He is also an associate member of Partnership for New York City and a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization.  In addition, he is an advisor to the University of Michigan Investment Office on Alternative Investments.  Jon earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Diana Cantor
Partner

Diana is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and is involved in the strategic direction of the firm’s portfolio management function.  Prior to joining the firm, Diana was a Managing Director at New York Private Bank & Trust before which she served for over a decade as the founding Executive Director of the Virginia College Savings Plan, which she grew to be the largest in the nation with over $27 billion in assets under management. Prior to her state service, Diana was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs, serving as Chief Administrator of the firm’s leveraged buyout and internal investment funds and merchant banking operations. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Diana practiced law in the real estate department of Kaye Scholer. Diana is affiliated with numerous civic and professional associations including the Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation, as Board Member of 100 Women in Hedge Funds, and as Chair of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Policy Forum Endowment Fund.  She is also past Chair of the Richmond Jewish Foundation Investment Committee, a past member of the Virginia College Savings Plan's Investment Advisory Committee, and an eight-year member of the Virginia State Treasury Board. Diana is also a director of two private companies and four public companies, Media General, Inc. and Domino’s Pizza, Inc., where she serves both as the Chairman of the Audit Committee, as well as  Universal Corporation and Revlon, Inc. She is a past director of The Edelman Financial Group Inc. In addition, Diana is currently the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Virginia Retirement System, the 22nd largest pension plan (public or private) in the country. Diana earned a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Florida, an M.B.A from the University of Miami, and a J.D. from New York University. She is a C.P.A. and member of the State Bar in Virginia, Florida, and New York. 

William Brown
Partner

William is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and focuses on portfolio management and researching managers and investments.  Prior to joining the firm, William was the Chief Investment Officer and Managing Member of Ely Avenue Management, LLC, an independent investment and financial advisory firm.  Previously, he was a Senior Portfolio Manager at Hartz Capital, a privately owned multi-strategy hedge fund associated with the Leonard Stern family office. While at Hartz, William had direct oversight of approximately US $1.0 billion of securities split between external and internal managed strategies.  Prior to joining Hartz, he was a Managing Director at Berenson & Company and a Director of Credit Suisse First Boston’s Telecom and Media Industry Group, specializing in mergers and acquisitions.  He also worked as a Vice President at Lazard Frères and Lehman Brothers, where he focused on the technology, media and telecom sectors. William is an Advisory Board Director with Alegro Capital, a London-based corporate finance and advisory firm. William earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. in Finance and Management from Columbia Business School.

 

Susan Mays
Partner

Susan manages the firm’s investment operations and is responsible for investor relations.  Prior to joining the firm, Susan was an Associate in the Prime Brokerage Division of Goldman Sachs.  Susan is a member of 85 Broads and is the Gala Chair for 100 Women in Hedge Funds.  She also serves on the New York Advisory Board for Best Buddies International.  Susan earned her B.S., summa cum laude, in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance, from Susquehanna University.

Lee Ehly
Managing Director, Chief Financial Officer

Lee is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.  He is responsible for firm’s financial operations and oversees manager operational due diligence.  Prior to joining the firm, Lee was the Controller at Hunter Global Investors, a long/short equity hedge fund.  As Controller, he was responsible for the financial and tax reporting of the firm’s funds as well as various operational matters. Previously, Lee was a Senior Accountant/Auditor at Rothstein Kass and PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he performed audit, tax, and accounting services for various hedge funds, funds of hedge funds, and private equity funds. Lee earned his B.S. in Accounting from the Rutgers School of Business and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Peter Brown
Managing Director, Chief Compliance Officer

Peter serves as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer, manages the internal legal function, and helps develop the firm’s strategic relationships.  Prior to joining the firm, Peter was a Partner at Meridian Capital Partners where he managed the firm’s legal and compliance team and served as head of investor relations and business development.  Prior to spending over a decade at Meridian, Peter worked as an Associate General Counsel for The Ayco Company, a financial services firm that provides wealth management services to corporate executives and employees.  Previously, Peter practiced law at Bond, Schoeneck & King.  Peter began his career as an associate at Willkie Farr & Gallagher. Peter earned his B.A. in English from the University of Notre Dame and a J.D., magna cum laude, from Albany Law School.  Peter is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.  

 

Seth Balsam
Senior Associate, Controller

Seth is responsible for all performance and financial reporting aspects, including the annual audits, of the firm’s private equity investments.  Prior to joining the firm, Seth was an Associate in the Controllers Division of the Private Equity Group at Goldman Sachs.  In this role, he managed a team responsible for the accounting and operational activities of 19 private equity fund-of-funds families consisting of 75 separate investment vehicles. Before joining Goldman Sachs, Seth was a Senior Associate at KPMG, LLP where he worked on the audits of mutual fund, pharmaceutical, communications and not-for-profit companies. Seth earned his B.S., summa cum laude, in Accounting from Yeshiva University, Sy Syms School of Business.  Seth is a Certified Public Accountant.

Spencer McCormick
Associate, Investments

Spencer provides analytical resources and assists with the firm’s investment due diligence and manager research activities. Prior to joining the firm, Spencer worked at Morgan Creek Capital Management.  As a Portfolio Analyst at Morgan Creek he focused on portfolio analytics and marketing across multiple fund-of-funds products.  He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Mathematical Decision Sciences and is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.  

Randi Packer
Associate, Controller

Randi is responsible for all performance and financial reporting aspects of the firm’s hedge fund investments and provides operational due diligence support to the firm’s CFO.  Prior the joining the firm, Randi worked as a Senior Auditor at Ernst & Young where she focused on the audits of investment companies, including private equity funds and mutual funds.  Randi earned her B.S. in Accounting from Yeshiva University, Sy Syms School of Business.

Maha Shama
Analyst, Investments

Maha assists with the firm’s investment due diligence and manager research activities. Prior to joining the firm, Maha was a Senior Audit Associate at KPMG LLP, focusing on the asset management industry.  Maha volunteers as a coach with Girls on the Run, a non-profit organization inspiring girls through running.   She graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Accounting and Minor in International Business. 

Joey Wu
Fund Accountant

Joey provides support for all internal and external reporting of the firm’s hedge fund investments and provides operational due diligence support to the firm’s CFO.  Prior to joining the firm, Joey worked as a Compliance Associate for TAG Associates, a multi-client family office, where he aided the in-house counsel with SEC and NFA procedures and daily operational responsibilities. He volunteers his time as a Youth Mentor at Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City. Joey earned his B.A. from the University at Buffalo.

Jennifer Davis
Executive Assistant

Jennifer supports the firm’s President and CEO. Prior to joining the firm, Jennifer worked as an assistant to the founder of Gruss & Co., dealing with the founder’s family office and hedge fund businesses. Jennifer began her career as a trading floor assistant, first at Goldman Sachs and then Credit Suisse First Boston.  Jennifer earned her B.A. from St. John’s University.

Blair Cohen
Executive Assistant

Blair supports the firm’s investment and investor relations teams and is involved in the firm’s administrative operations. Prior to joining the firm, Blair worked for several investment management firms, including ARX Investment Management, Tokum Capital Management, and Jamison Capital Partners.  Blair began her career in the non-profit sector working at Hadassah – Women’s Zionist Organization of America. Blair earned her B.A. from Quinnipiac University.

Kari Frankenberger
Executive Assistant

Kari supports the firm’s CFO and CCO, and is involved in the firm’s administrative operations. Prior to joining the firm, Kari worked in administrative operations at American Securities. Previously, she served as administrative assistant at Sedgwick. Kari earned her A.A.S from Monroe Community College.
