Michael Gronager
Co-Founder & CEO
Michael is the co-founder and CEO of Chainalysis, a leading blockchain analysis firm that specializes in tracking and investigating cryptocurrency transactions. Born in Denmark, Gronager holds a Ph.D. in Quantum Mechanics and an MSc in Chemical Engineering, which he earned from the University of Copenhagen. His deep technical expertise and interest in the emerging field of cryptocurrencies led him to become a pivotal figure in the blockchain space.

Before founding Chainalysis in 2014, Gronager was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Kraken, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges globally. His experience at Kraken, particularly his involvement in investigating the infamous Mt. Gox hack, underscored the need for robust tools to monitor and investigate blockchain transactions. This realization drove him to co-found Chainalysis, along with Jan Møller and Jonathan Levine.

Co-Founder & Chief Strategy Officer

Jonathan is the co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of Chainalysis. With a strong background in economics, Levin holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Bristol and a Master of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Oxford. Before co-founding Chainalysis in 2014, he served as the CEO of Coinometrics, a company that provided the first blockchain intelligence dashboard.

At Chainalysis, Levin plays a critical role in shaping the company's long-term strategy, particularly in areas related to compliance, anti-money laundering (AML), and the broader financial ecosystem's integration with cryptocurrencies. His work involves helping government agencies, financial institutions, and cryptocurrency businesses manage risks and investigate illicit activities in the rapidly evolving digital currency landscape.

Levin is also recognized for his thought leadership in the field, frequently testifying before the U.S. Congress and participating in high-profile discussions on the future of cryptocurrency regulation. His contributions have been instrumental in establishing Chainalysis as a leader in blockchain intelligence, providing crucial tools for ensuring the security and integrity of the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
